Andy Milne

Pianist/composer Andy Milne draws inspiration from politics, philosophy, comedy and science fiction. His piano playing integrates concepts from Cuba, jazz, funk and classical music. With Gregoire Maret he explores fresh sounds for piano and harmonica, organically blending avant-garde and romantic sensibilities, while his solo piano work on the album Dreams and False Alarms features interpretations of 1960s folk music. Milne’s duets with French pianist Benoit Delbecq feature innovative prepared piano textures commissioned by Chamber Music America to explore relationships between acoustics, texture, space and time.

Milne’s touring programs include concerts of solo piano, piano duo with Benoit Delbecq, and piano/harmonica duo with Gregoire Maret, and jazz fused with hip-hop performed by his group Dapp Theory. Residency activities include master classes and classes in improvisation.
